🗺️ Understanding Parking in Morzine in 2025-2026

Morzine has modernised its parking system for winter 2025-2026: no more barriers, but cameras that automatically read licence plates on entry and exit. Payment is made at the meter or via the PayByPhone and PrestoPark apps.

⚠️ New for 2025-2026: No barrier does not mean free. The LAPI system (automatic licence plate recognition) issues a Post-Parking Penalty (FPS) if you don't pay. Always pay at the meter even if you don't see a barrier.

1️⃣ Zore Chairlift Car Park — The smart option for Avoriaz

Zore Chairlift Car Park

Route de Super-Morzine, above the gondola station
Free Price
~50 Spaces
8:30am Full during holidays
★★★★★ Our rating

This is the go-to spot for locals and ski instructors. This small, informal car park — completely free — sits above the Super-Morzine gondola, at the base of the Zore chairlift, a 4-person lift that connects Super-Morzine directly to the Avoriaz plateau.

Why is this so strategic?

💡 Insider tip: Parking here lets you skip both the Prodains gondola queue AND its price tag. The Zore chairlift, far less crowded, takes you straight onto the plateau. Same ski area — far fewer people.

⏰ Timing is everything: In February and during school holidays, this car park is full before 8:45am. Arrive before 8:30am to stand a chance. Outside holiday periods, you can usually find a space until 9:15–9:30am.

📍 How to get there: From Morzine town centre, take the road towards Super-Morzine. Pass the Super-Morzine gondola station and continue up the road. The car park is shortly after, on your left, just before the Zore chairlift departure.

2️⃣ Nyon Car Park — The large, reliable free car park

🏔️

Nyon Car Park

Direction Mines d'Or / Nyon Cable Car
Free Winter & Summer
250 Spaces
Week Long-stay parking OK
★★★★ Our rating

This is currently the only confirmed large free car park in Morzine in winter. With 250 spaces, it has real capacity — and it stays free in both summer and winter, making it a valid option year-round.

⚠️ Downside: If you mainly want to ski on the Avoriaz side, you'll need to cross the ski area (roughly 20–30 min of skiing). This car park is ideal for those wanting to explore the Nyon / Chamossière sector, or who plan to roam the whole Portes du Soleil domain.

3️⃣ Nantégué Car Park — The hidden gem

🌲

Nantégué Car Park

North-west sector of Morzine
Free In winter
188 Spaces
Shuttle Lift access
★★★ Our rating

Less well-known than Nyon or Zore, the Nantégué car park is nonetheless a solid free alternative with 188 spaces. It's open in winter and served by the free shuttle buses to reach the ski lifts.

If the first two options are already full when you arrive a little late, Nantégué can save the day — especially since very few visitors know about it.

4️⃣ Prodains Car Park — Convenient but expensive

💸

Prodains Car Park

At the foot of the Prodains Express gondola
€26 Day rate (P0/P1)
€182 Weekly rate
540 Spaces
★★ Our rating
💸 Official 2025-2026 rates: The Prodains car park (P0 and P1) costs €26/day and €182/week. Only the first 45 minutes are free (handy for dropping off passengers). Source: avoriaz.com, December 2025.

Very convenient for heading straight up to Avoriaz via the Prodains Express gondola (just 4 minutes!), but rarely good value unless you truly have no other option.

The system now works without barriers: your plate is read on entry, you pay at the meter or via the app, and your exit is recorded automatically.

🎯 When it can still be worth it: You're arriving late (after 10am, free car parks already full), you'd rather not deal with shuttles, or you're on a short stay and need your car close by. In that case, the private Prodains car park (3052 Route des Ardoisières) sometimes offers slightly different rates — worth comparing.

5️⃣ Parking in Morzine Center (Pléney & Super Morzine)

Parking in the town center is paid throughout the winter, managed by a camera-based system (LAPI) with no physical barriers. The main advantage: the 45-minute free rule, perfect for quick drop-offs or small errands.

🚠 Pléney Parking — In the heart of the action

⛷️

Pléney Parking

At the foot of the gondola (Morzine-Les Gets sector)
Paid 45 min free
200 Spaces
2.20m Max Height
★★★ Our rating

Ideally located for accessing the Morzine-Les Gets ski area and dropping children at the ESF ski school, this outdoor parking is very popular (and fills up quickly during school holidays). Remember to pay at the machine or via the PayByPhone app even for a short stay to avoid a fine (FPS).

🚠 Super Morzine Parking — Express access to Avoriaz

🚠

Super Morzine Parking

Town center, departure to Avoriaz
Paid In winter
~70 Spaces (Limited)
8:15 AM Full very early
★★ Our rating

Located near the suspension bridge, this is the natural starting point to head towards Avoriaz from Morzine center without driving to Les Prodains. The major downside is its very small size; it is usually full as soon as the slopes open.

💡 Local Tip: If Super Morzine parking is full when you arrive, don't waste time driving around. Follow the road climbing just above the gondola for 10 minutes and park at the Zore free parking (see section 1).

If you're staying outside the centre or arriving late, the best strategy is to park in authorised residential areas (Route de la Manche, certain sections of Route de la Plagne depending on local signage) and reach the ski lifts via the free shuttle buses.

🚌 Shuttle reminder: Lines A, U, D, E, C, N and M serve all of Morzine completely free. Line A runs directly from the Pléney to Prodains (Avoriaz) every 15 minutes, from 8:00am to 9:25pm. See our complete shuttle guide.

Shuttles run every 10 to 30 minutes depending on the line. If you're carrying ski equipment, it's accepted on board — allow a little extra time at peak hours.

📊 Full Car Park Comparison

Car Park Winter Price Spaces Lift Access Rating
Zore Chairlift Free ~50 Avoriaz (via Zore) ★★★★★
Nyon Free 250 Nyon / Chamossière ★★★★
Nantégué Free 188 Shuttles → centre ★★★
Prodains (P0/P1) €26/day 540 Avoriaz (direct) ★★
Pléney town centre Paid 200 Morzine / Pléney ★★
Avoriaz covered car parks €18/day 1,730 Avoriaz (in-resort) ★★★
💰 What this means over a week: Prodains at €26/day = €182 for the week. By choosing the Zore car park (free) + shuttles, you save the full amount — equivalent to several days' ski pass.

🏔️ Save €182 on parking this week

At Morz'Inn, your private parking space is included in the price, with a free shuttle stop just 50m away. No morning stress, no ice to scrape at 8 AM to find a spot, and more budget left for your ski passes or a nice dinner.

❓ Morzine Parking FAQ

Are there still free car parks at the foot of the slopes in Morzine in 2025-2026?

Yes, mainly the Zore chairlift car park (Avoriaz access, ~50 spaces) and the Nyon car park (250 spaces, Nyon cable car access). The Nantégué car park (188 spaces) is also free in winter. Spaces are limited — arrive before 9am during peak season.

Can I leave my car for the whole week for free?

Yes, at the Nyon car park in particular. Avoid the blue zones in the town centre (limited to 1h30) and check the signage for residential areas.

What is the exact rate for the Prodains car park in 2025-2026?

The official rate (source: avoriaz.com) is €26/day for P0 and P1, with 45 minutes free. A week costs €182. These rates apply from 12 December 2025 to 19 April 2026.

Which is the most convenient car park for skiing in Avoriaz?

The most direct is Prodains (€26/day, gondola in 4 min). The best free compromise is the Zore chairlift car park — you access Avoriaz via the chairlift, with no queue and at zero cost.

Can I park for free and take the shuttles?

Absolutely — and it's actually the recommended strategy. Park in authorised areas (Route de la Manche, etc.) and use the free shuttles — particularly Line A, which runs from the Pléney to Prodains every 15 minutes, or Line N for Nyon.

Have the Morzine municipal car park rates changed?

Yes. The town council has taken back direct management of its car parks and installed a new barrier-free system (LAPI licence plate reading). Payment is made at the meter or via PayByPhone/PrestoPark. If you don't pay, a penalty notice (FPS) is issued automatically.
