🔍 What is open, what is closed: the real picture

The question everyone asks in autumn: “is anything still open?” The honest answer: the village is alive, the mountain is paused. Here is the picture as of 1 October 2026.

✅ Open The village of Morzine, its essential shops and part of its restaurants (list below). The Lake Montriond loop, accessible all year. Low and mid-altitude trails starting from the valley. The cheese dairy, the Wednesday market, several paragliding schools, bike rental with a shuttle, wellness venues (sauna, massages, yoga: see our spas in Morzine) and indoor leisure, detailed below.
❌ Closed The Pléney gondola and Morzine Bike Park (closed since 13 September). Avoriaz Bike Park, partially open until 13 September. The Nyon cable car (closed since 30 August). The Multipass (valid until 13 September). Aquariaz in Avoriaz, closed until its winter reopening. The residence's outdoor pool (a summer-season pool). The free shuttles, which do not run in the off-season and restart with winter.
⚠️ Check before you come Opening hours and closing days for restaurants and shops change from week to week, and some places take their annual holiday in November. A phone call the day before avoids unpleasant surprises.
🚵 Good news for riders: the Les Gets Bike Park opens for All Saints’ For the first time, the Mont Chéry Bike Park (Les Gets) opens from 17 October to 1 November. The gondola runs every day from 9:15 am to 4 pm, with bike park access at €23 for adults and €15 for children. Other activities come with it (four-season luge, canicross hiking, paragliding), along with free Halloween events.

For more ideas, see our guides to Morzine restaurants and mountain restaurants (the latter are mostly closed in autumn).

🥾 Hiking and nature: autumn without the lifts

Without gondolas, you start from the valley, and that is the whole point: fewer people, colours, trails to yourself.

🌅 Mind the time and the light Clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026 and days shorten quickly. Plan to be back before dark, with a headlamp in your bag, warm layers and a windproof jacket. At altitude, snow can return as early as October: check the forecast before you go (see our Morzine weather and webcams guide). It is also hunting season: check hunting days and zones (Chasseco app) before you set out.

A €100 flat fee per stay covers cleaning, bed and bath linen and welcome products. You can work out your exact stay with the calculator and calendar on the home page.

🏔️ Autumn in Morzine, at the off-season rate

Morz'Inn is a 4 to 6 person apartment with free private parking, an equipped kitchen and a panoramic view over Morzine. Ideal for a hiking weekend, a quiet week of remote work or a restart before winter.
