π Slope Timing
- Arrive early (8:30-9am): short lines, fresh snow, less crowded slopes
- Midday break (12-1:30pm): avoid slopes at peak lunch times
- Descend by lift if tired: it's perfectly normal and better than a fall on soft snow late afternoon
- Watch weather: in low visibility, slope markers disappear. Stay near trees (PlΓ©ney sector) and use Morzine-Avoriaz app for live conditions
πΏ Equipment & Rental
- Several rental shops at PlΓ©ney and Super Morzine gondola bases
- For beginners: choose short, soft skis, easier to turn
- Helmet strongly recommended, especially for children
- Book equipment evening before from 5pm to save time in morning
π« Ski Lessons
Even though Portes du Soleil beginner slopes are excellent, a few lessons with a certified instructor considerably accelerate progression. ESF Morzine and several private schools offer group lessons (cheaper) or private. Book in advance in high season.
